REPORTING TO THE MINE GENERAL MANAGER, THIS ROLE WILL LEAD THE TECHNICAL SERVICES TEAM (ENGINEERING, GEOLOGY, SURVEYING AND DISPATCH) AT THE DETOUR LAKE MINE SITE AND ESTABLISH SHORT AND LONG TERM PLANS WHICH MAXIMIZE THE RESOURCE POTENTIAL.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Optimize resource recovery over the life of the mine based on operational parameters;
  • Work with mine operations to achieve production targets in a safe, timely, cost effective and environmentally friendly manner;
  • Development of short and long term plans which support the Life of Mine plan and optimize the ore body;
  • Oversee the mine’s ore grade control system;
  • Collaborate with maintenance, processing and other departments to resolve production problems and work towards targets;
  • Develop and manage the technical services budget within approved limits;
  • Continuously develop and enhance the skill sets of the department personnel through strong leadership, coaching and mentoring.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mining Engineering;
  • Professional Engineer Designation (registered with the Province of Ontario);
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience leading and developing a team of professionals;
  • 15+ years experience in large open pit mines;
  • Excellent computer skills and a strong background in mine design, planning and scheduling software;
  • Excellent verbal, written, listening and presentation skills;
  • Experience in a cross cultural work environment is considered an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical is required
