The Alumni Officer is responsible for planning and implementing events and initiatives that strategically engage alumni in lifelong meaningful relationships with the School. Managing the School’s alumni network locally, nationally, and internationally, this position will help alumni to appreciate the tangible benefits of participating in programs that serve alumni, current students, and the School as a whole. The Alumni Officer is also charged with helping identify and conduct research on alumni, collecting and analyzing data from a broad range of sources, preparing detailed profiles and briefings, and participating in prospect review and strategy development that will fulfill the ongoing objectives of Annual Appeal and Capital Campaigns.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Alumni Engagement
- Plan, implement, and promote alumni programs that support the department’s strategic plan and evaluate the success of various initiatives.
- Research and identify alumni; establish, build, and maintain relationships with a wide range of alumni, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; and maintain regular communication to engage alumni and strengthen their connection to the School.
- Plan, organize and execute a series of high-value events that promote strategic partnerships between the School and its alumni to establish a strong culture of pride, loyalty and philanthropy.
- Create the systems and structure that will support a strong Mentor Program for GNS students.
- Manage the Alumni Engagement Association; organize meetings; prepare agendas and minutes; and act as the school liaison for any activities/events they wish to organize.
- Manage volunteer opportunities that align with alumni engagement initiatives.
- Work with Marketing & Communications to generate materials and various communication pieces as it relates to alumni events, activities and news highlighting the achievements of GNS alumni.
- Educate graduating students about alumni benefits and engage them in life-long alumni activities.
- Act as the first point of contact for individuals seeking information about alumni activities; manage the alumni email inbox, Facebook page, Linked-In and other social media platforms meant to engage alumni.
- Manage mail and/or email campaigns related to alumni engagement; produce mailing lists, respond to inquiries etc.
- Other relevant duties as assigned. Research & Fundraising
- Participate in the development and implementation of strategies related to fundraising, major giving, cultivation and stewardship activities as it relates to alumni.
- Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; research and profile alumni backgrounds, capture contact, biographical and career information and maintain applicable notes.
- Collaborate closely with advancement colleagues in increasing support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects and candidates for planned giving.
